Removing the chainguard from a Creme Holymoly bicycle

How does the chain guard come off a Creme Holymoly bicycle like this one?

After unscrewing the chainstay clamp, the front of the chain protector has a disc on it that can be pried off:

(Disregard the mangled bits — I tried to cut the chainguard apart before I figured out how it was intended to be removed.)

You'll need to remove the pedal to get the disc off completely. Then, you'll have to remove the crank.

Finally, removing the bottom bracket will completely free the chainguard. You'll have to first remove the left crank, then the adjustable cup of the bracket on that same side. With that done, you'll be able to unscrew the drive-side of the bottom bracket, which is holding the chainguard on. I needed a 20-spline, 32mm diameter tool (Park Tool BBT-22) to do this.

I hope this will be useful to you! It took me a while to figure out.

With my chainguard removed, my next step is to install a full, Dutch-style chaincover! The Creme chainguard only protected my pants — this chaincase will protect the drivetrain itself for reduced maintenance. (Tip: don't get a rigid plastic one! The chainstays are too far from the chain line.)
