Tab DJ: Balance left-right channels and volume of Chrome tabs
Feb 11, 2019
A $10 DJ cable can split and duplicate channels to send output of one input channel to speakers and one to headphones (for pre-listening). A DJ program such as Mixxx can be used in this set-up, or a tool for setting the left-right audio balance per-application (such as Sound Control).
These set-ups work well for local audio files, but for streaming music a web browser may be the only tool available. Tab DJ is a Chrome extension gives two simple controls for each tab:
- Left-right balance: pan audio from tab to only one output channel
- Volume: adjust output volume for each tab
Using Tab DJ, one tab can provide output to speakers while another tab (or set of tabs) are used for previewing. A simple and easy way to use a web browser for DJing!
